- Note: Volunteers under the age of 15 will need to be accompanied by an adult on the farm.
On-Farm Volunteers
On the farm, tasks may include weeding, planting, harvesting, moving wheelbarrows of mulch/compost, and more. Although some work can be physically demanding, there are tasks for people of all physical abilities. Examples of less strenuous jobs are sorting seeds, removing tape from cardboard, and picking berries. Tasks change often depending on priorities and time of year.
In general, on-farm volunteer opportunities may occur at the following times:
- March – October:
- Weekday mornings (8:30 am – 11:30 am)
- Thursday evenings (Times vary with daylight)
- Saturdays (8:30 am – 2:00 pm)
- November – February:
- Weekday afternoons (1:00 pm – 4:00 pm)
- Saturdays (8:30 am – 2:00 pm)
NOTE: This is not a definitive schedule, since volunteers do not meet every day, but it does provide a rough idea of when volunteers meet depending on the season. Please register below to receive updates with the current schedule, as well as other important volunteer updates.
Watering Volunteers
We often need volunteers to water newly planted seeds in the ground or in the greenhouse on the weekends and weeknights to keep the soil moist. This task is a bit more strenuous than typical backyard watering (our hoses are several hundred feet long, so it can be difficult to move them to multiple locations around the farm) and it is also usually done solo. This role also requires an orientation to the farm’s irrigation system and watering techniques. If you are interested in becoming a watering volunteer, check the box below to receive updates on upcoming trainings. We’ll plan trainings for the second Wednesday of the month in the evenings.
