Chesapeake Conservation & Climate Corps

Little Portion Farm is grateful for the opportunity to host members of the  Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps. Members serve a one-year term of stipend-supported service ($33,280 stipend) that places young adults (ages 18-25) with nonprofits or government agencies to serve full-time in the environmental field.

Corps Members on the farm assist in a wide range of farm activities, including planting, preparing beds, harvesting and more, for an immersive experience in small-scale sustainable agriculture. The Corps Member receives training in all aspects of our no-till, chemical-free, diversified agricultural system. There are also be opportunities, if desired, for the Corps Member to assist with or help lead some of our volunteer programs, education efforts, social and outreach events, and social media and website content.

The Corps Member is part of a larger cohort of around 50 members serving at nonprofit organizations and government agencies through the Chesapeake Bay region. These young professionals receive experience managing projects and programs, leadership and professional development training, mentorship, a support network of young professionals, and other skill-building opportunities including networking and grant writing.

Applications for the Chesapeake Conservation and Climate Corps are open every winter and must be submitted through the Chesapeake Bay Trust’s online system. The year of service begins in August.
