Regenerative Agriculture Internship

We offer a summer Regenerative Agriculture Internship for college students interested in gaining hands-on experience in small-scale sustainable agriculture. Interns work alongside the farm team, including volunteers, to participate in every aspect of farm production.

Interns receive training in all aspects of the sustainable agriculture methods used by the farm. Interns also receive instruction to the ecological and soil health principles that guide these methods and have access to the farm’s library of resources. This is a unique experience to learn valuable gardening skills and get your hands dirty in a beautiful outdoor setting, on the grounds of the Shrine of St. Anthony in Ellicott City. Interns also contribute in a concrete and meaningful way to improving the food security of people in Baltimore City.

Little Portion Farm interns receive a $3,000 stipend, disbursed in increments throughout the summer.

Interns can expect to:

  • Participate in all aspects of farm production, including bed preparation, planting, bed maintenance, watering, pruning, harvesting, washing, and record-keeping, under the direction of the Farm Manager.
  • Participate in weekly sessions for gaining farm knowledge through observation, written reflection, and use of farm resources (including books and videos).

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
Currently enrolled in (or recently graduated from) an undergraduate or graduate degree program, preferably in a relevant field (agriculture, environmental science, biology, etc.)
  • Must be able to commit to a minimum of 30 hours per week
  • Interest in sustainable agriculture and desire to engage in farming practices

Timeframe:

  • May – August (timeframe can be adjusted based on academic calendar)
  • Minimum 30 hours per week

The application period for the Summer 2025 internship is now closed. If you are interested in a future summer internship or an unpaid internship for academic credit (available at other times during the year), please email matt@littleportionfarm.org.
